Blackridge & District Model Flying Club |
Our
Club was formed in 1976 with the goal of securing
a permanent flying site where radio controlled
model aircraft can be flown and to promote the
sport of model aircraft building and flying
in the area. The Club has developed an excellent
flying site at Blackridge and is fortunate to
have the support of West Lothian Council who
give assistance with regular grass cutting and
allow us to have a long term lease agreement
on the site.
Our flying site is situated to the north of
the village of Blackridge in West Lothian, Scotland
and is roughly halfway between the cities of
Edinburgh and Glasgow, around 22 miles from
each city centre with easy access from the M8
motorway (Find us here).
The site is reclaimed land, completely flat,
grassed, football pitch sized and situated in
open countryside. A very pleasant place to fly
from.
Club membership is held at around 30 members,
adults and juniors. Although the Club mainly
caters for sports flying we have a few members
interested in scale models and the Club hosts
an annual scale model fly-in. Buddy box training
systems and aircraft are available for tuition.
So
come and visit us, our Club has a friendly easy-going
atmosphere and visitors or spectators to the flying
site will be given a warm welcome.
